showed up in droves.
___It
seemed the entire population of Tampa
showed up to party, show-off their creative
costumes or just plain watch. For whatever
the reason, folks of all walks of life
came and enjoyed the fine weather, high-spirits
and creepy scenery as the 20th anniversary
of Guavaween went underway rather smoothly.

Rides, parades, food, beer and plenty
of vendors greeted visitors who parked
as far away as the port of Tampa.
___The
annual festival, which is a fundraiser
for the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce,
honors the mythical figure Mama Guava,
who leads her group of ghouls, monsters
and all other partygoers in The Mama Guava
Stumble Parade through Ybor City. Her
goal, according to the official web site
www.cc-events.org,
is to "take the 'bore' out of Ybor".
